FLORIDA

You will need:
  • Both of your ten year, valid passports. 
  • The relevant Decree Absolute should either of you been previously divorced.
  • The relevant death certificate should either of you have been previously widowed. 
  • The fee of $93.50 in cash, to be paid at the County Clerk of Court when you are applying for your marriage license. 
 
You will need to be:
  • Over 18 OR
  • Over 16 with parental consent. If this is applicable you will need to take with you your birth certificate with your parents’ names on. Your parents will also need to be present when applying for a marriage license and they will need their own passports with them.
    • If a parent has sole custody or the other parent is dead, the permission of one parent is sufficient.
    • If a person is under the age of 16, the marriage license has to be issued by a county judge, with or without parental permission. 
    • If parents are both deceased and there is not an appointed guardian, he/she may apply for a marriage license. 
    • A minor who has been previously married may also apply for a license. 
    • A minor who swears on oath that they have a child or are expecting a baby can apply for a license if the pregnancy has been verified by a written statement from a licensed physician. A county court judge may at his/her discretion issue or not issue a license to marry.

  • You will need to apply for your marriage license on arrival in Florida. You can apply for this at any County Clerk of Court office in any county in Florida. For a full list of offices click HERE.   • In order to apply for your marriage license you must take with you all of the documents detailed above, and you will be required to fill in a marriage application form. 
  • After applying for your license there is a mandatory 3 day waiting period for non US residents before you can have your ceremony. It is therefore recommended that you are in Florida for at least seven days to allow for the application for the license and your marriage.

LAS VEGAS

You will need:
  • Both of your ten year, valid passports.
  • The relevant Decree Absolute should either of you been previously divorced.
  • The relevant death certificate should either of you have been previously widowed. 
  • The fee of $60 to be paid when you are applying for a marriage license. (A further fee of $5 will be payable if using a credit card.)
 
You will need to be:
  • At least 18 years of age OR
  • Over 16 years of age with the consent of your parents or guardians.
    • Consent must be given in person at time of application by either parent or legal guardian. 
    • A certified copy of the birth certificate is required. 
    • Legal guardian must have court order showing proof of legal guardianship. 
    • All people giving consent must have proof of identity. 
    • Consent is given by notarized affidavit of consent, which must be written in English and contains the birth date of the minor and must state the relationship of person giving consent.
  • No nearer of kin than second cousins or cousins of half-blood.
 
Further information:
  • Once in Las Vegas you will need to go to the Marriage Bureau of Las Vegas in person with all of the documents detailed above to apply for your marriage license.

  • Being such a popular destination for marriage abroad, Las Vegas have made it very easy for a foreigner to marry there. There is no required residency, and once you have your marriage license you can marry straight away.
  • Your marriage in Las Vegas is recognised in the UK. 
 

NEW YORK

You will need:
  • Both of your ten year, valid passports.
  • The relevant Decree Absolute should either of you been previously divorced.
  • The relevant death certificate should either of you have been previously widowed. 
  • A fee of $35 to be paid when applying for your marriage license.
 
You must be:
  • Over the age of 18 OR
  • Over the age of 16 and
    • You will need to show proof of your date of birth – this can be done with your passport. 
    • Both parents must be present when you are applying for your marriage license and at the ceremony should you be getting married at one of the City Clerk offices. They will also need their passports with them. 
    • If one parent is deceased, the surviving parent must appear and a death certificate for the deceased parent must be produced.
    • If both parents are deceased, the legal guardian must appear instead.
    • If either prospective spouse is under the age of sixteen years, in addition to parental consent, the written approval of a Judge of the Supreme Court or Family Court is needed.
    • A person under the age of fourteen years cannot be married.

  • Once there you will need to fill out an application for. You can begin filling this in online by clicking HERE. The form is an affidavit swearing that you are free and able to marry. 
  • The bride-to-be must consider the surname she would like to have once she is married as this will be filled in on the marriage license.
  • It is a requirement that you wait 24 hours after receiving your license to marry.
